Symsource, as a leading supplier of development services for Symbian OS and open mobile phones, congratulates Symbian on the creation of the Symbian Foundation. We believe that such a bold and far-reaching decision will secure the future of Symbian OS as a leading mobile software platform and bring a whole new generation of converged devices to the fore, reaching deep into the feature phone segment, and acting as a further catalyst to bring high specification multimedia computers across a number of new markets.

Symsource has its roots in Symbian OS development and fully understands the ramifications of making not only the core OS, but also the UI platforms, open source. We anticipate that many new players will enter the Symbian sector to take advantage of the maturity of the OS, bringing further new opportunities, technologies, differentiation and competition.
