LAMP and C++ Software Engineer (1 position available) Symsource is a leading mobile technology and innovation company, renowned for our ability to solve technical problems and provide creative, practical solutions. Symsource is seeking an engineer equally comfortable with high level server side environments as they are with developing software in standard C++. By the former we include Python and Perl scripting languages, PHP and MySQL based databases, and Linux and Apache configuration and package management. The successful candidate will be deployed on a number of mobile data integration projects, but will also receive coaching and training in Symbian OS specifics, ultimately leading to qualification as an Accredited Symbian Developer. This is an ideal job for someone fascinated by mobile technology but whose career path has led them in a different direction until now.
Required skills and experience: - Degree educated in computer science, engineering or a related subject
- PHP and Python scripting languages to a professional standard
- MySQL and/or SQLite database configuration
- Apache sysadmin
- Experience with emerging fixed/mobile convergence technologies such as SIP, SIMPLE, VoIP, RTP/RTSP etc.
- Object oriented design
- Customer facing communications skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Desirable skills and experience: - Java J2EE / J2SE
- C++ (ANSI standard) programming to a professional standard
- Perl scripting language
- System administration, including network configuration, SVN administration etc.
- Contributes knowledge and software in their own time to the open standards community
Personal disposition: - Strong interest in mobile technology including Symbian OS and Java MIDP
